Chad Bryant Racing adds Toledo Speedway doubleheader to Derek Griffith’s ARCA schedule

TOLEDO, Oh: Chad Bryant Racing hadn’t planned to compete in this weekend’s ARCA Menards Series doubleheader at Toledo Speedway, but thanks to hard work from team owner Chad Bryant and rookie Derek Griffith, the team will show up at the northern Ohio racetrack and hope for the opportunity to compete for two wins on the same weekend.

Griffith, an accomplished Late Model racer in the northeast returns to short track form this weekend after a recent stint of larger track oval racing which saw the rising phenom participate at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Kentucky Speedway and most recently last Friday night’s Dawn 150 at Kansas Speedway.

While huge strides were made from Griffith, he is looking forward to the opportunity to return back to his forte and the chance to return the Mooresville, N.C.-based team back to Victory Lane.

“I am very excited to hit Toledo Speedway this weekend,” said Griffith. “The track looks like a fast and fun place to race and it is right up my alley for track size as well, so hopefully good things are in store for our team this weekend.”

Of course, it was a short track in February at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway, where Griffith and CBR took the series’ by storm when Griffith in his series’ debut won the pole, led a dominating 144 of 175 laps – but was penalized late in the race for a pit road infraction. Still, the Hudson, N.H. native recovered to finish second.

This weekend in sorts, Griffith is hoping to finish what he started at New Smyrna and add another strong Toledo Speedway result to Chad Bryant Racing’s track record at the historic half-mile ARCA owned track.

“It has been an amazing experience so far with Chad Bryant Racing,” added Griffith. “Really hoping we can add even more races to our schedule this season – but as far as Toledo goes, the short tracks are something I prefer. With limited practice, I am struggling a little bit at the larger tracks, so the chance to get back to some normalcy is the perfect opportunity for our No. 22 Chad Bryant Racing team to make some noise.

“We have two chances to get into Victory Lane this weekend too. So, that is big. Can’t wait to get to Toledo and just get things started.”

Although Griffith realizes he will have tough competition at Toledo this weekend from the likes of fellow teams Venturini Motorsports, DGR-Crosley and Bret Holmes Racing, the 23-year-old believes his team can strut its stuff this weekend and he can make up for his inexperience in 400 laps of competition.

“I think we are all ready for a win,” Griffith expressed. “It would mean the world to cement my name down as a winner in the ARCA Menards Series and hopefully looked at as a good competitor from the other series’ drivers and teams.

“Chad (Bryant) and Paul (Andrews, crew chief) know what it takes to be successful at Toledo Speedway and I’m just hoping that I can live up to our expectations this weekend and it will give us some momentum for the future.”

This weekend marks the fifth and sixth events with Original Gourmet™ Food Company as the primary partner of Griffith’s No. 22 Ford Fusion.

Headquartered in Salem, New Hampshire, Original Gourmet™ has been innovating in the sweets and snack industry since 1994. Their story started with a recipe and a vision.

Their curiosity for making special blends of flavors and colors of candy became a passion for providing people with bold tasting lollipops.

Griffith’s car will be covered in a variety of the company’s 26 lollipops flavors.

Original Gourmet’s lollipops are the largest pops sold with a bright taste and bright colors – standing out from all the rest. Weighing in at 1.1 oz., these lollipops are gluten and peanut free delights that have a plastic stick and will not get soggy like all the other lollipops do.

Team owner Chad Bryant is looking forward to having Griffith back on normal turf and setting his driver loose on the competition.

“We expect to be fast this weekend and contending for the win,” offered Bryant. “All season long I’ve been super impressed with Derek, but getting the chance to add both Toledo Speedway races to our schedule gives us that extra motivation to go there and not only try to get both wins – but put our No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company inside the top-five all race long.

“Looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish at ARCA’s home track.”

Derek Griffith and Chad Bryant Racing upbeat for Kansas ARCA challenge

Derek Griffith and Chad Bryant Racing upbeat for Kansas ARCA challenge

KANSAS CITY, Kan: Set for their fourth ARCA Menards Series race of the season together, Chad Bryant Racing (CBR) and rookie driver Derek Griffith trek west hunting for a top-five finish in Friday night’s Dawn 150 at Kanas Speedway.

The likable Griffith returns to the scene on the heels of a career-best seventh-place finish two weeks ago at Kentucky Speedway in the General Tire 150. And while his first intermediate debut was quite the learning experience, the Hudson, N.H. native is eager to pick up right where he left off from Kentucky.

“I am super excited to hit another mile and a half-track with some experience behind me,” said Griffith. “I’m hoping with some of the seat time I’ve had, we can roll out and be good off the start and I can get racing!”

At Kentucky and because of COVID-19 protocol, Griffith had limited practice aboard his No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company Ford Fusion before throwing the 23-year-old into a hungry pack of wolves – most who had prior experience on bigger tracks.

Griffith, though held his own throughout the 100-lap race, turning some of his fastest laps of the event in the closing laps. With another limited practice on deck at Kansas, Griffith has a better baseline than Kentucky.

“Although the tracks are different, the mindset is still the same,” added Griffith. “I know I’ll be able to trust the car and we can keep working on it. The more the race went on at Kentucky the more comfortable I became.

“I have to get into that frame of mind as if I’m competing in those last couple of laps at Kentucky during practice at Kansas to put us in a good spot for the race.”

Still, while the fundamentals are the same, Kansas Speedway will run under the lights, providing a new element for Griffith.

“I think it’s going to be a blast racing under the light at Kansas,” sounded Griffith. “Yes, I think the handling has the opportunity to change itself depending on the track conditions, but that’s why I have Paul (Andrews) in my corner to help make it all seem seamless.

“I really think with what I learned at Kentucky and our determination as a team should put us in a good spot for the race.”

Saturday’s race will mark the fourth race with Original Gourmet™ Food Company as the primary partner of Griffith’s No.

Team owner Chad Bryant says Griffith is doing everything he needs to do behind the wheel and hopes to continue to showcase his ability in his second stint with a mile-and-a-half track this weekend.

“Derek has done a great job in the No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company Ford Fusion,” offered Bryant. “I was super impressed of the job he did at Kentucky with the lack of actual on-track time. If the race was 50 laps longer, we would have been able to get a few more spots on the track.

“The gains he made at Kentucky will be put on display at Kansas and I look forward to seeing our No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company Ford Fusion contending for a stronger finish.”

Derek Griffith looking forward to short track racing with Chad Bryant Racing at Lucas Oil Raceway

CLERMONT, Ind.: Fresh off a top-10 finish in his ARCA Menards Series debut at the monstrous Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Derek Griffith and his Chad Bryant Racing (CBR) team trek to Lucas Oil Raceway (LOR) looking for their first victory of the season in Friday night’s Calypso Lemonade 200.

Digesting a big track like Pocono last weekend can be intimidating to any rookie driver, but thankfully Lucas Oil Raceway Park is home to 0.686-mile short track, where tire conservation is critical, and handling is premium.

Two characteristics that Griffith and his No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company Ford team plan to perfect in the fifth race of the season.

“I am looking forward to getting back to a short track for sure,” said Griffith. “Last weekend at Pocono Raceway was great experience for myself and I look forward to getting back to a bigger track soon, but I’m focused on Friday night and the chance to put our No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company Ford in Victory Lane.”

Unlike last week, Griffith will not have to make his Lucas Oil Raceway debut with just a few practice laps and no qualifying.

This weekend, the ARCA Menards Series shifts to a more traditional schedule which Griffith believes his Chad Bryant Racing team can capitalize on.

“I have a lot of “studying” to do this week in watching previous races, taking notes and talking to my team, but I’m eager to get on the track and experience Lucas Oil Raceway for myself,” added Griffith.

“Having the opportunity to practice and qualify on Friday is something I think we can execute well and get a good feel of where we need to be for the race.

“It’s going to be important for me to know how the track reacts throughout the day and with the race being run at night, I know I can give my feedback to Paul (Andrews, crew chief) and he’ll make the right adjustments that will keep us in contention.”

Friday night’s race will mark the second race with Original Gourmet™ Food Company as the primary partner of Griffith’s No.

“After a sold first run at Pocono, everyone at Original Gourmet is excited to see our bright yellow No. 22 Ford Fusion hit the track again. They are a great new partner for the sport and bring a product that race fans can enjoy while watching our Chad Bryant Racing compete for race wins.”

Team owner Chad Bryant says he is ecstatic to have Griffith at the wheel for Chad Bryant Racing’s return to Lucas Oil Park.

“I know we can go there and win on Friday night,” offered Bryant. “Derek is a quick learner and I think he’ll get comfortable with the track much like he did with New Smyrna and put us in a position to win.

“Derek is a smart racer and his instincts I think will be pivotal to our success. We’ve had fast cars all season long and I know we can continue to showcase that on Friday night.”

“Paul (Andrews, crew chief) did a great job with adjustments and we really came to life at the end of the race but didn’t have the track position to capitalize.

Derek Griffith leaning on Chad Bryant Racing team ahead of Pocono debut

LONG POND, Pa.: Derek Griffith’s 2020 season may have been reshuffled because of the coronavirus pandemic, but Friday afternoon’s General Tire #ANYWHEREISPOSSIBLE 200 at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway is a prime opportunity for the Chad Bryant Racing development driver.

Chad Bryant Racing is the defending winner of the 80-lap race and although the 23-year-old Griffith has never been to the tough and treacherous 2.5-mile triangle, the Hudson, N.H. native has developed a reputation for conquering challenges in spectacular fashion.

His ARCA Menards Series debut may be his biggest challenge yet.

“I’m excited to get to Pocono on Friday,” said Griffith. “It’s going to be a big challenge as it will be the largest track that I’ve ever competed on, but I feel like I’m heading there with one of the best teams in the garage.

“It’s going to take a few laps to get comfortable, but I think with some confidence in myself and the leadership of the Chad (Bryant) and Paul (Andrews, crew chief) we can turn some heads.”

Traditionally before the June ARCA race, the series’ host an open-test session allowing rookie drivers the prime opportunity to get comfortable with the “Tricky Triangle,” but with COVID-19 changing the protocols of the season, Griffith will have just one hour to find his comfort zone – just hours before the race.

“I’ve been doing all I can to get ready for Pocono,” added Griffith. “Reviewing notes, talking to people, watching old races, you name it, I’ve been all over it. It’s important for us to have a good outing in our first race with Original Gourmet™ Food Company, so we’ll take the hour practice session and hope it gives us a good direction for the race.”

Friday will also mark the debut of Original Gourmet™ Food Company as the primary partner of Griffith’s No. 22 Ford Fusion.

Headquartered in Salem, New Hampshire, Original Gourmet™ has been innovating in the sweets and snack industry since 1994. Their story started with a recipe and a vision.

“I am so blessed for this opportunity to represent Original Gourmet™ Food Company and compete in the ARCA Menards Series,” added Griffith. “This is a great chance to bring a new partner into the sport and bring a product that race fans can enjoy while watching our Chad Bryant Racing compete for race wins.”

Team owner Chad Bryant says he is ecstatic to have Griffith onboard for Pocono and thinks he will impress many in the fourth race of the season.

“Derek impressed a lot of people at New Smyrna and he’ll only continue to turn heads in the ARCA Menards Series,” offered Bryant. “He is extremely talented, and I think he’ll be able to showcase that whether it’s on a short track or a big track.

“We’re going to win some races before the end of the 2020 season, I promise ya.”

Chad Bryant Racing adjusts ARCA Menards Series East plans

MOORESVILLE, N.C.: Chad Bryant Racing (CBR) announced today that the coronavirus pandemic has forced the organization to adjust its 2020 ARCA Menards Series East schedule which includes their withdraw from competition in Saturday’s Herr’s Potato Chips 200 at Toledo Speedway.

Before the COVID-19 outbreak, CBR and newcomer Derek Griffith was slated to run the full ARCA Menards Series East schedule, but with current protocols and procedures in place, the team will now run select races in the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East.

Griffith, 23 and Chad Bryant Racing embraced an outstanding performance in their series’ debut together in February at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway.

The talented Late Model ace from the Northeast had one of the fastest cars in practice; won the pole, led a whopping 144 of the race’s 175 laps, but a late-race pit stop penalty relegated Griffith to start at the rear of the field.  With 31 laps remaining he was able to come from last to second.

Knowing the team will now forgo a championship, the team under the leadership of Paul Andrews will now focus on race wins.

“This was a difficult decision for our Chad Bryant Racing team,” said team owner Chad Bryant. “We weighed the options and without the opportunity to race and interact with fans right now, we had to adjust our plans in the best interest of Original Gourmet™ Food Company and their initiatives.

“While we’re disappointed that we’ll no longer be able to compete for an ARCA Menards Series East championship, we’re upbeat knowing that we can go to the race track each week with a young, flourishing and talented driver.”

In lieu of Toledo, CBR and Griffith will now compete in the ARCA Menards Series race at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway on June 26 with the No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company Ford Fusion.

An updated 2020 schedule for Griffith will be released in the near future.
