Derek Griffith set to close out ARCA Menards Series season at Kansas Speedway

Derek Griffith set to close out ARCA Menards Series season at Kansas Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kan: There’s a lot on the line for everyone heading to Kansas Speedway for Friday night’s ARCA Menards Series Speediatrics 150 presented by The NASCAR Foundation, including rookie driver Derek Griffith.

The Hudson, N.H. native is poised to make his eighth start of the 2020 season and eyes a victory in the season finale driving for Chad Bryant Racing.

Griffith, 23, also returns to Kansas Speedway hoping to better his eighth-place run at the 1.5-mile speedway in July after starting 12th.

“I am excited for Kansas Speedway this weekend for sure,” said Griffith. “Finally, a place I have laps at, and I believe that experience should be pivotal to having a good night for our Chad Bryant Racing team this weekend.”

Completing all 100 laps this summer at Kansas was crucial in the learning curve for Griffith as he seeks his second top-five finish in ARCA competition and the first on a bigger track.

“I think the biggest thing I am happy about is returning to a place where I’ve made laps. It’s been challenging at times to go to a new track with limited practice and even some no qualifying and then just go out and race.

“We’ve made it work and did a good job – but going make to a place for a second time is going to pay off for us this weekend. I’ve learned so much on these bigger tracks this year and I hope we get an opportunity to showcase that on Friday night.”

Griffith also heads to Kansas fired up.

Taking advantage of an off weekend in the ARCA Menards Series competition, Griffith and the Chad Bryant Racing team participated in the ARCA Menards Series East finale at Five Flags (Fla.) Speedway this past Sunday, where Griffith contended for the win but was eliminated from contention after being spun out by an impatient driver late in the race.

“I’m still a little frustrated about Pensacola,” added Griffith. “Just because we had such a good car and our team worked hard and we were right where we needed to be and got wiped out for no reason. A lot of people worked hard, and we left there nothing to show for our efforts.

“To make up for it, I really want a good finish in our No. 22 Original Gourmet Ford Fusion. A top-three finish would really make my season come to a good end.”

This week marks the eighth ARCA Menards Series event with Original Gourmet™ Food Company as the primary partner of Griffith’s No. 22 Ford Fusion.

Headquartered in Salem, New Hampshire, Original Gourmet™ has been innovating in the sweets and snack industry since 1994. Their story started with a recipe and a vision.

Their curiosity for making special blends of flavors and colors of candy became a passion for providing people with bold tasting lollipops.

Griffith’s car will be covered in a variety of the company’s 26 lollipops flavors.

Original Gourmet’s lollipops are the largest pops sold with a bright taste and bright colors – standing out from all the rest. Weighing in at 1.1 oz., these lollipops are gluten and peanut free delights that have a plastic stick and will not get soggy like all the other lollipops do.

“Halloween is coming up later this month and the Original Gourmet™ Lollipops make an excellent treat – just saying,” Griffith said with a smile.

“I can’t thank Chad Bryant, Paul Andrews and the rest of the Chad Bryant Racing team for all their efforts this year. This has been a crazy year, but it’s been a lot of fun to work with them!”

In addition to Griffith, Kris Wright will drive a second-Chad Bryant Racing car in Friday night’s race aboard the No. 12 car.

Derek Griffith ready for second ARCA Menards Series East start at Five Flags Speedway

Derek Griffith ready for second ARCA Menards Series East start at Five Flags Speedway

PENSACOLA, Fla.: A prime opportunity awaits Derek Griffith and the Chad Bryant Racing team in Saturday night’s Pensacola 200 presented by Inspectra Thermal Solutions at Five Flags (Fla.) Speedway.

Returning to the ARCA Menards Series East scene for the first time since competing at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway in February, Griffith and the CBR team led by crew chief Paul Andrews are looking to finish what they started.

Griffith had a dominating performance at New Smyrna, but a late-race setback on pit road changed the complexion of the race and Griffith ran out of laps to get back to the lead before the checkered flag waved.

While Griffith eventually settled for second at New Smyrna, Five Flags is a second chance and an opportunity to capture the win.

“I’m pumped about Five Flags this weekend,” said Griffith. “It is such an amazing track. We have been there for the Snowball Derby a couple of times and I feel like my prior experience will pay off.”

Knowing that he has experience at Five Flags Speedway in a Super Late Model, Griffith is hoping to capitalize on the track time and use it to his advantage in the ARCA Menards Series East finale.

“I’d love to close out the year with some good runs,” added Griffith who will also compete in the ARCA Menards Series finale at Kansas Speedway next weekend. “It’s been such a huge honor and a blessing to be able to drive for Chad Bryant Racing. We’ve been able to have a lot of success together, but we haven’t been able to get into Victory Lane, yet.

“I think this weekend is our best chance to make that happen. I know what it takes to be fast at Five Flags and even though the competition is going to be pretty stout, I feel like the communication between myself and my crew chief Paul (Andrews) is really strong. We just have to keep our No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Lollipops Ford near the front and then just see what happens.”

“Halloween is coming up later this month and the Original Gourmet™ Lollipops make an excellent treat – just saying,” Griffith said with a smile.

Team owner Chad Bryant is looking forward to having Griffith back on the ARCA Menards Series East scene this weekend.

“We’re going to Five Flags Speedway with some unfinished business in the ARCA Menards Series East,” offered Bryant. “All season long I’ve been super impressed with Derek and he I know he will continue to showcase that this weekend.

“Hopefully, the weather holds out and we can have a successful weekend.”

In addition to Griffith, Grant Enfinger will drive a second-Chad Bryant Racing car in Saturday night’s race aboard the No. 77 Champion Power Equipment | Breland Homes Ford Fusion.

Derek Griffith returns to ARCA Menards Series competition at Bristol Motor Speedway

BRISTOL, Tenn: Competing in his first ARCA Menards Series race in nearly seven weeks, newcomer Derek Griffith heads to Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway for Thursday night’s Bush’s Beans 200 hoping to pick up right where he left off in his most recent at Toledo Speedway at the beginning of August.

Adding the doubleheader at the legendary half-mile track of Toledo Speedway, Griffith was able to capitalize on back-to-back days of racing which yielded his career-best performance of fifth in the Menards 200 presented by Crosley Brands.

With some fire under his belt with a string of four straight top-10 finishes dating back to Kentucky Speedway in July, Griffith is looking forward to invading Bristol and knocking off one of his bucket list items while searching for his first career ARCA Menards Series victory.

“I am super excited for Bristol Motor Speedway this week,” said Griffith. “First time there, but definitely a bucket list deal. I feel like I have a ton of momentum right now and hope we can capitalize on it Thursday night.”

Much like Griffith has had to embrace this season in ARCA competition because of COVID-19 protocols, track time will be limited which may seem like a downfall for Griffith – but knowing he’s largely touted as one of the finest short track racers in the country, he’s hoping to step up to the plate and deliver.

“I’d love to have a full practice and even some qualifying, but that’s just not in the cards for ARCA right now,” added Griffith. “It’s unfortunate yes, but I think I’ve proven to be a pretty fast learner this year and Bristol will be no different.

“Thankfully, I am surrounded by people who have plenty of knowledge and success at Bristol in the past, so my worry level isn’t very high at all.”

With the added mix of the ARCA Menards Series East at Bristol this week, there is no doubt that it will likely be the most stacked field of the 2020 season, but Griffith is primed and ready.

“I believe the competition is tough everywhere we go, no matter how many cars are racing,” Griffith explained. “I think we just go into the race with a level head, race hard and see how we come out.”

The ARCA Menards Series is eyeing its stretch drive for the final races of the season and while Griffith will be apart of at least two of those events at Bristol and the season-finale at Kansas Speedway, he does have goals he wants to carry out before the checkered flag waves.

“I am happy with what we’ve accomplished this season,” sounded Griffith. “I’d really like to get a real solid run at one of these bigger tracks, a top-three, ideally a win. That would be awesome.”

Between Toledo and Bristol, Griffith has been staying busy between operating his business and racing Late Models which included two wins at Claremont Motorsports Park and Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire respectively.

This week marks the seventh event with Original Gourmet™ Food Company as the primary partner of Griffith’s No.

Team owner Chad Bryant is looking forward to having Griffith back behind the wheel this week and tackling Thunder Valley.

“We expect to be fast this weekend and contending for the win,” offered Bryant. “All season long I’ve been super impressed with Derek, but heading to Bristol, he’s in a good place and I think he’ll find that Bristol is a place that fits his niche.

“Looking forward to seeing what we and bother our Chad Bryant Racing cars can do on Thursday night.”

In addition to Griffith, Kris Wright will drive a second-Chad Bryant Racing car in Thursday night’s race aboard the No. 12 vehicle.

“We fought back up after being hung on the outside lane on one of the restarts and got to fifth before the rain came. I thought if we went back to green, we could have gotten a few spots, but it is what it is.

Chad Bryant Racing adds Toledo Speedway doubleheader to Derek Griffith’s ARCA schedule

TOLEDO, Oh: Chad Bryant Racing hadn’t planned to compete in this weekend’s ARCA Menards Series doubleheader at Toledo Speedway, but thanks to hard work from team owner Chad Bryant and rookie Derek Griffith, the team will show up at the northern Ohio racetrack and hope for the opportunity to compete for two wins on the same weekend.

Griffith, an accomplished Late Model racer in the northeast returns to short track form this weekend after a recent stint of larger track oval racing which saw the rising phenom participate at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Kentucky Speedway and most recently last Friday night’s Dawn 150 at Kansas Speedway.

While huge strides were made from Griffith, he is looking forward to the opportunity to return back to his forte and the chance to return the Mooresville, N.C.-based team back to Victory Lane.

“I am very excited to hit Toledo Speedway this weekend,” said Griffith. “The track looks like a fast and fun place to race and it is right up my alley for track size as well, so hopefully good things are in store for our team this weekend.”

Of course, it was a short track in February at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway, where Griffith and CBR took the series’ by storm when Griffith in his series’ debut won the pole, led a dominating 144 of 175 laps – but was penalized late in the race for a pit road infraction. Still, the Hudson, N.H. native recovered to finish second.

This weekend in sorts, Griffith is hoping to finish what he started at New Smyrna and add another strong Toledo Speedway result to Chad Bryant Racing’s track record at the historic half-mile ARCA owned track.

“It has been an amazing experience so far with Chad Bryant Racing,” added Griffith. “Really hoping we can add even more races to our schedule this season – but as far as Toledo goes, the short tracks are something I prefer. With limited practice, I am struggling a little bit at the larger tracks, so the chance to get back to some normalcy is the perfect opportunity for our No. 22 Chad Bryant Racing team to make some noise.

“We have two chances to get into Victory Lane this weekend too. So, that is big. Can’t wait to get to Toledo and just get things started.”

Although Griffith realizes he will have tough competition at Toledo this weekend from the likes of fellow teams Venturini Motorsports, DGR-Crosley and Bret Holmes Racing, the 23-year-old believes his team can strut its stuff this weekend and he can make up for his inexperience in 400 laps of competition.

“I think we are all ready for a win,” Griffith expressed. “It would mean the world to cement my name down as a winner in the ARCA Menards Series and hopefully looked at as a good competitor from the other series’ drivers and teams.

“Chad (Bryant) and Paul (Andrews, crew chief) know what it takes to be successful at Toledo Speedway and I’m just hoping that I can live up to our expectations this weekend and it will give us some momentum for the future.”

This weekend marks the fifth and sixth events with Original Gourmet™ Food Company as the primary partner of Griffith’s No. 22 Ford Fusion.

Headquartered in Salem, New Hampshire, Original Gourmet™ has been innovating in the sweets and snack industry since 1994. Their story started with a recipe and a vision.

Team owner Chad Bryant is looking forward to having Griffith back on normal turf and setting his driver loose on the competition.

“We expect to be fast this weekend and contending for the win,” offered Bryant. “All season long I’ve been super impressed with Derek, but getting the chance to add both Toledo Speedway races to our schedule gives us that extra motivation to go there and not only try to get both wins – but put our No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company inside the top-five all race long.

“Looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish at ARCA’s home track.”
